    Defect m4 barrel

I just picked up my benelli m4 today. I wish I have inspected it more carefully before doing paperwork. I just found the muzzle was obviously damaged by benelli when they put in the choke. Should I be concerned and find the shop for a replacement?

    Will that affect the performance?

I could see that as being a disappointment on a new gun.

It doesn't hurt to ask for a replacement barrel.

I wouldn't be too concerned if it were mine. The ding doesn't appear to affect ability to use the threads, this is not the barrel crown of a rifle or pistol and will not affect performance, and if I use it, I will eventually scrape it or ding it worse than that.

Came back to say, if you use enough choke lubricant/grease, you won't see that spot anyways.

I wouldn't be happy with it. But then, I wouldn't worry about it either, unless it interfered with choke installation/removal.

Hate to disappoint you but that tiny burr (where one once was during the threading process) in no way will affect performance and they're almost certainly going to deny your claim. Yes, I know what a Benelli costs but that is how I see things going..

Wouldn't hurt to send the pictures to Benelli, and see if they will replace the barrel. They may just mail you a new one (barrel). Do the Benelli barrels come off as easy as 870 barrels?

Agree with the above.... all you can do is ask.

In no way will it affect performance. The choke takes over at that point

I will go back to sportsman warehouse tomorrow to see what they say (I got their firearm service plan).

If it’s a self defense gun, figure out what choke you will run, add a few drops of locktight and call it a day

                        Purely cosmetic.

And don't locktite on shotgun chokes

Use some choke grease or just brake grease or Lucas gun grease or Aeroshell aviation grease or similar grease. But use something or the choke will get fused in with carbon

As long as the chokes goes in/out smoothly it's just cosmetic.

That said, it's kinda disappointing on a new gun at that price point. I'd try to get it remedied through SW or Benelli.

I assume the wear inside the receiver shown in the pics is normal?

I created a separate thread for choke tube grease vs. loctite discussion.
