Ordered a Benelli super black eagle III

Turning 50 shortly, decided to get myself a birthday gift! (Wife & kids - "Do you need a new belt or wallet? Want a T-shirt?" )

Anyway, it's going to be a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3

    - 28" Barrel
    - Semiauto, inertia action
    - Rather light weight, feels great (fondled one at a local Cabelas)

I read that early models were shooting high but apparently that issue has been addressed in manufacturing. Found a bunch of DIY guides online to adjust the POI if necessary.

Can't wait!! I just joined a local range that offers all kinds of clay shooting sports.

    Scored a great deal here:

Excellent news. Good for you. You deserve it. When I turned 50, I bought a Colt 6920 Magpul edition. It's still sitting new in the box and I've never used it.

I have SBE 1 and 2 and neither shoots high. Unless you have shot an SBE with 28" barrel and like the way it feels, you might want to reconsider a 26". My first SBE was 28", I shoot 28" or longer on just about all my guns, I don't usually like 26"barrels. After one duck season with the 28" SBE, I dropped serious cash on a new 26" barrel for it. These guns have an extremely long receiver and are really weight forward, and for me the 28" balance was just horrible. 26" is mo betta.

I heard that the SBE III shot high. My H&K SBE (early 1st model) shoots to point of aim, it just kicks like a mule doing it. I have an M2 that has the chevron stock that is much more comfortable to shoot and I have found that for ducks I do not need 3 1/2 shells. I expect that yours will be much softer shooting than my 1st Model SBE.

I ordered the 28. Already briefly held one, felt fine, but no 26 to compare against. Did a little web search of "28 vs 26" and the consensus seemed to favor 28, so that's why I ordered.

I'm not that picky, and I'm no expert. I'll be shooting clays mostly, if I'm lucky I'll end up hunting with it someday (I'd be the only one eating them, wife doesn't like wild game - all the animals are "too cute to shoot" )

Great gun! It will last a lifetime and good for any shotgun sport.
                I'd prefer the 28" too.
                Happy Birthday.

(I am trying to buy another if anyone has a Miroku made Model 12 they want to part with?) I kept that Benelli.

I expect you'll be just as happy with yours OP. Congratulations!

Looks like you made a great choice. However, I wish you hadn't posted a link to the website. They offer financing. That could be a bad thing. Hahaha

Hm... I was under impression that by 50 real men do not need any excuses besides the only one - "I WANT IT! perod"....
                          Maybe I'm wrong....

I have the SBE2 and SBE3 with 28" barrels in the waterfowl edition and love them both. I dont see any issues with it shooting high. Many turkey and ducks can attest to this things precision.
