    870 build question

how easy would it be to build one from the ground up?....

just a question, I know it is fairly more practical and cheaper to buy a base model and modify it.

You'll need to do the usual background check and transfer when obtaining a 870 reciever. You need is a trigger assembly + two reciever pins, or a side saddle.

Then you need a magazine spring, magazine follower, magazine spring retainer, magazine cap, and the barrel.

You need a complete bolt assembly aswell + slide, you can get used ones on Gunbroker.

Then you pick a stock you like, you need to obtain an action bar + nut and install any forend of your choice.

I'm assuming the 870 reciever contains fleitabs preinstalled already.

In this case, building your own would be more expensive, that is unless you want a shotgun made up of USED parts that costs the same as a brand new one in the box.
