HD Ammo

Going to be buying a Beretta 1301 Tac Gen 1.

Given the current climate for ammo, what are options for HD ammo?

The standard "home defense" (aka HD) ammo I've used are 1 ounce slugs and 00-buck, all 2 3/4". This may be impossible, difficult, or otherwise hard-to-get. Just keep trying and even if you have an FFL to transfer ammo to you, it's hard to find online.

I usually prefer Federal, Winchester, or Remington, but all is very hard to find right now.

For practice, I might use #7.5 or #8 shot, which can be easier to find.

Do what you need to do to get the ammo you want/need. Congratulations on your new shotgun and get some practice in when you can

Federal LE132 00 is the best a man can get.

If you cannot find factory HD ammo, you can buy #7.5 and #8 target shells and create improvised slugs with them.

Wax slugs can be pretty fun and cheap to play with. Check youtube for "wax slugs" and you'll see plenty of videos.

Agreed-it's a powerful 12 gauge shotgun. You specify "HD" so anything from 00-buck to #6 shot or beyond will work definitely in your favor-no need to get sucked in to high priced specialized "HD" loads, waste of money for that gauge.

Anything which makes BOOM out of 12GA in HD distances would destroy your adversary beyond repair.
If you "Wax" them, it is going to be even more devastating.

The shotgun recoils pretty big, bigger than some 308 rifles, which could use muzzle brake that shotgun can not have.

I don't get your post- shotguns are low pressure and brakes don't work well on shotguns...

Search for OO Buck. Ask your dealer if they will accept internet ammo for you if they don't have it in stock...

This. We can debate endlessly on the merits of different loadings, and we often do. But any buckshot out of a 12 gauge will get the job done. Buy what you can find for the time being, and fine tune it when market situation is not so tight.
