    Remington 870 Tactical

Has anyone seen or gotten ahold of one of the new Remington 870 Tactical shotguns with the XS Ghost ring sights?

I put a deposit down at Turners something like 4-5 months ago and still nothing.

Hmm now that i think about it, i'm trying to remember the last time i saw anything remington at Turners.

    Tactical

I haven't seen the Tactical 870 w/ the ghost rings in any store but I ordered a custom one from AIP Tactical and he set it up exactly like I wanted for a very reasonable price. (Ghost Rings and all) (He disagrees w/ Ghost Rings but did it for me anyway )

Rifle Sling, Shotgun Sling, Tactical Sling, One point Sling, Single Point Sling. Remington parts, 870 parts, Remington shotgun barrels, shotgun barrels, knives, k9 leashes, do leashes, gun cleaning supplies, magazines, guns

    I hope this helps.

Also... you may want to check w/ J&J Armory as I know they have thier own custom shotguns now that are pretty awesome that are based on the 870 Platform.

I picked up one from Tabor's Shooter supply up here in San Bruno, CA. It's a great gun overall however I still haven't shot it yet. I originally purchased a Remington 870 Tactical without the XS Ghost rings and wasn't happy that the finish they used because it started to rust underneath and bubble up the finish. I decided to just take my knife and shave it away. It flaked off like paint of glass. RIDICULOUS!!! When I saw the Remington 870 Tactical with XS Ghost rings I noticed that the finish wasn't like the newer one I previously bought and was more like the original 870 finish and picked that one up as well.

Be aware of the Remington 870's with a newer looking type of finish that appears more black and gritty...IT MIGHT RUST UNDERNEATH AND FLAKE OFF...

I would post pictures but I already took the finish off the one that was pealing in order to take care of the rust.

Hmm, that's an interesting point about the finish quality. I haven't had that problem, but I did notice that my mag extension bracket rattled loose and marred up the finish on my barrel, so now I've got a spot of bare metal. Seems to me that the finish ought to have been a little more durable than that.

Believe that Bulls Eye had one.

I wish....ask the guys at Jackson Arms, they saw my finish cracking and peeling as well. One of the rangemasters there has/had the same problem with his.

I just bought one at my local gun shop. It took several months for them to get one in stock though. Haven't taken it to the range yet but I did get a Knoxx stock for it. The finish is like my dad's old Remington and doesn't seem to be of lesser quality.

Did you get the one with the XS Ghost rings? If so then that is why it doesn't seem to have any noticable difference.

The standard 1st runs atleast of the Tacticals, the one I picked up is the one that had a finish problem.

Yeah it has the XS sights. After the finished flaked on your shotgun did you get it Dura coated or did Remington do anything about the defective finish?

I didn't bother doing anything. As upset as I may have been about it, I figured whatever and didn't want to waste my time with anything. Oh well

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Rem 870 and Rem 870 Tactical? Besides door breacher/choke tube on the barrel and the XS Ring sights?

                      Thanks,
                      Nick
