    Hello,
I'm getting back into shooting slays, I last shot clays in 1987. I'm looking for a used or new O/U for about $700 or so, please give me some advice as to what to look for and what to avoid.
    Thank you!

I've heard good things about the Stevens 555(? I think?) And the CZ. I've fired the Hatsan some and it's got a pretty bad trigger.

Haven't shot clays in a long time but when I did, the "beginner" setup was the Remington (Baikal) O/U shotguns. Might still be around on used shelves in local shops.

If you are ok with used, keep an eye out for Beretta Silver Pidgeons.

at that price, a quality semi will be a better choice.

CZ redhead or ruger red label are about the most affordable O/Us without resorting to a crude turkish import like a mossberg. Entry level Berettas or brownings will start around 1500

How many shells are you planning to shoot per year?

I just started shooting clays having never shot them before about 5 weeks ago. Since then I shot 18 cases of ammo with a corresponding number of attempted clays.

Just get a decent gun that fits, you will spend much, much more on ammo and clays. Assuming you decide to get back into it.

The gun is a one time cost.

Cases or boxes? A case is 10 boxes...and I would guess your shoulder hurts...a lot.

You do know that the CZ O/U's are made by Huglu, a Turkish manufacturer.

Either a C.Z Drake or a C.Z redhead premier!! Both really good shooting gun's and good customer support if needed, between my close shooting friends we have 7 different ones, never had any issues.

New CZ Redhead Premier owner. 100 rounds through it so far at one sporting clays trip.

Only hiccup so far, intermittently fails to fire the follow up shot if firing the bottom barrel first. Flawless if I fire the top barrel first.

Need to find time to run more rounds.

God luck finding a used Silver Pidgeon for 7 bills.

Cases not boxes. Shoulder is fine, I am pretty recoil tolerant being used to big bore rifles. However, last weekend shot 7 cases in 3 days with an instructor. My shoulder is fine but I was propping the stock of the gun against my bicep to break and catch the shells and dump them in the bin and got a nice bruise from it.

I need a better technique for that.
