    Differences between Benelli M1 and M4?

    Curious what they are ... they look the same to me in photos

    Eh not an expert. However one major one is the m1 is inertia driven system vs the dual piston system in the m4.

      M1 is an inertia gun without pistons and springs under the barrel and you can get many different barrel lengths for it. M1 is way lighter than the M4. It has been superceeded by the M2.
      Early M1s can also be loaded with a round in the chamber and another on the spoon, and it will feed properly.

      Mine holds 9 this way but they somehow eliminated this feature in later versions.

        Remington copied the M4 (A.R.G.O.) gas system in their Versa Max shotguns.
        I've had a Remington Versa Max for around 8 years. It's a very soft shooter.
        The Remington V3 uses the same design, but not the same parts.
