    yet another Mossberg 500a question..

howdy folks... i recently got another forend for my Mossberg 500a (it's just the factory ribbed one) to replace the cheap flimsy one that it came with..
i had already figured, after reading all of the various threads, that i would also need to purchase another slide action and nut, which i also did....

now for the installation.... my question is-- do i need to remove the trigger housing and such to install the action slide?? also shown in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKbWcPdTRBI

i am also having a problem removing the bead on the tip of the barrel, so i can install my heat shield...

    cheers... mike

no you do not need to remove your trig assm to change your forend. Your front bead is threaded on, its easy to scratch the barrel tape so tape it up.

Not sure what you're referring to.

To thread starter, yes, you will essentially need to fieldstrip the entire gun, barrel, trigger assembly, cartridge stop, cartridge interrupter, bolt carrier, then pull the entire action slide tube out of the receiver. Now if you have the crappy one-piece synthetic forend, then you're SOL as you'll need to get a action slide (a real one) to mount different forends. www.havlinsales.com has some for sale, and don't forget to get the nut. If you get the 7 5/8" tube, you're set, if you get the 6 3/4" tube, you will need to get the extended nut.
