Are there any short barrels available for the Beretta A400 Extreme Plus? From the factory, they sell 26" or 28", but I wanted a 16" or 18" barrel.

On a shotgun a 16" barrel makes in a Short Barrel Shotgun and illegal in CA. Have you contacted Beretta on a 18" barrel?

I have not see short barrels for these. My friend bulged his barrel on his old extrema after shooting steel through a fixed choke on a goose hunt. Barrel was crazy expensive and difficult to replace.

You could probably buy a barrel and have it cut by a professional but it would probably be cheaper to find a used 1301 or not much more to buy a new 1301.

Remington V3 is a great shotgun that can double up as a HD shotgun. I’m assuming you want a shorter barrel for HD?

Midwestgunworks has barrels. There's nothing short and for the price you are better off buying another shotgun.

For the price you're almost better off just buying something like a Mossberg 930 that setup for home defense already

Agree. I currently have a V3 and A300 for birds and an 870 tactical for HD.

If you do a pump gun, 870 or 500 are both great.

You've got the A400 already so save your pennies and get a 1301 Comp or Tactical and then you have choke interchangeability

The 1301 Tactical 18" barrel is a 3" chamber and 3" receiver while the A400 Extreme Plus is a 3.5" chamber and 3.5" receiver and the 1301 Comp is a 3" chamber with 3.5" receiver. You would need the gas system designed for a 3" chamber and 3" action to work on a 3.5" action. The most likely success will be the 21"/24" barrels from the 1301 Comp.

And if you visit the website and look at each or the 3 barrels they have, it clearly states either:

• Fits Beretta 1301 Tactical 12ga. shotguns only
• Fits Beretta 1301 Competition 12ga. shotguns only

Unfortunately they dont make a shorter barrel for the A400 but if you want a semi for HD
Like others said take a good look at the remington V3 it can do both waterfowl and HD they make shorter barrels for them and the use standard remington extensions.
V3 is a great gun that recoils like a 20ga or less.

Sorry to bring back a dead thread.
I have both a 1301 Comp Pro (21") and an A400 Extreme plus (28"). Both are 3.5 receivers and both will take the others barrel no issues. I've swapped back and forth plenty of times to go shooting with. But the short barrel has to be from the 1301 Comp Pro, to work.
