Mossberg 930 security vs 930 SPX

Are there any fundamental differences between the security version and the SPX? Besides cosmetics, is it the same shotgun?

The only real difference is the SPX has a rail mount, a nice set of LPA ghost ring sights and a Choate 7+1 tube extension. The GRS are worth a little over $200 if you purchased them aftermarket.

Personally, I like my 930 security verion and no, I don't miss the ghost ring / fiber optic front sight deal. If you are putting a red dot on a shotgun, you really should invest in the ammo to learn to shoot it better instead.

The LPA sights are growing on me...and as others have mentioned, they are worth a couple of hundred bucks if you want them.

If you can live without them, you can pick up the rail for a red dot cheap....I bought several of these (they were so inexpensive) figuring that down the road I'd pick up a couple more spare 930 security models and could use these for sights....
