Well that got out of hand real fast...

I bought a Mossberg 590A1 a little over a month ago, right before there was a run on guns and people started buying everything up. Initially I turned down the Magpul version because I preferred the more traditional look. Quickly realized that it was tough to shoulder (cheek) the shotgun properly with the stock sights (ghost ring sights that sit up pretty high), so I replaced the stock with a Magpul stock and added a cheek riser and problem solved. Said that would be it and not change anything else on the shotgun...

That led to installing a Magpul forend which definitely wasn't necessary, but it is an ergonomic improvement over the stock forend and I can mount a small light if I decide to. Also changed the front sight's red fiber optic to green. Installed a Magpul MSA1 2-point sling and finished it off with a Limbsaver recoil pad (yes, you can call me a wuss, but if I'm going to be using this shotgun for a 4-day class I want to try and preserve my shoulder!)

Was hoping to take a tactical shotgun class at Front Sight in the next month or so, but given the current situation (global pandemic and all) that isn't going to happen for me until October now, but still decided to dial in the shotgun now for the class.

In all honesty I should have just bought the Magpul version right off the bat, but live and learn I guess!

For whatever reason I've got the receipt for mine sitting on my desk. 4/29/02, $429.95. Side saddle and speedfeed stock. 9+1+4+6 and the pointy bit.

SP not the A1 version though.

Too much bling dude. You're going for form over function. Stop and re-set.
Go back to the beginning and forget about 'looks'.

But then you will need other types of backups.
                              You know something like a AR15,then a AK,then a 357 revolver,then a 38 snubbie.
Then go ya know there are other types of shotguns maybe a semi or even a shockwave.
Then you wont care about back ups and just start looking at ALL the cool types of firearms out there.
Thinking last night hhhhmmmm a Winchester Lever gun in 30 30 might be nice.
