Silly Rem 870 Express Tactical Question

    Whats up guys!
Long time listener, first time caller. So I feel like I've got a silly question. I've searched all over and I can't seem to find a definitive answer in writing. Basically I purchased an 870 about a year ago, and I've recently been fiddling with it. I'd really like to put a strap on the forend. I like the hypothetical idea added grip, heaven forbid an intruder tried to take the gun from me.

I know I've seen some Mossbergs with the strap on the forend, and other Remington models with the strap, so I would assume it would be legal for me to modify the original forend with a strap. But assuming as we all know is dangerous. Would it be legal for me to install this and be compliant with everything in California?

Forgive me if this is the wrong thread, or the wrong place, or overal just tacky Lol.

I'm just looking for advice from those more well versed than myself.

Yes that would still be legal.

I believe there are some youtube videos of some people adding just that.

Yes, you can put it on there. Should you is a question you have to ask yourself. If your main idea is retention, in a fight over the gun, think about who would have the leverage advantage should that be your only hold on the gun.

Yeah that strap is useful on a Mossberg Shockwave or the Remington Tac14, to help control recoil. I'm not too sure of usefulness on a full size shotgun though.

Useless on full sized gun but by all means if it makes you happy.

Probably better with a 2-point sling. I am imagining getting your hand stuck in that strap if someone was able to get the gun away from you and jacking up your fingers.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I appreciate all the input.

I'm actually probably going to decide to hold off on the strap, I really didn't think about the size of gun being that big of a factor. But it makes sense why its offered on smaller shotguns. Again the perspective of leverage, me really hanging on to the stock would probably do much more for me.

With that being said I'm going to go with the sling guys.

            Thank you again!

If someone tries to grub your gun, just turn the muzzle towards him and pull the trigger, problem solved. You do not need this marketing gimmick.

The strap on the forend came about when they came out with the 14 inch shockwaves.
                  WHY?
Those short shotguns can fly out of your hand if you are not used to the recoil which of course applies to most people buying them. Some interesting vids on youtube which the person always says this is SO BADASS,good luck with the second shot being on target

It's also there so your hand doesn't slip off the front and over the muzzle thus maybe shooting yourself.

                      Listen to him.

Why in hell did you let the actor get close enough to grab your gun.

                      That's a basic failure in self-defense.

If you're unsure of what to do, you basic "Step 1" is to stop the actor.

                      I guess I don't understand your hesitation.
