Why is my right cheek sore?

Been shooting clays for a couple months. I think my "stand" is
correct, but always end up with a sore right cheek? What am I
    doing wrong?

Could be poor gun fit, hard to say without seeing you shoot.

Your cheek is too far from the stock because...

You need to have someone knowledgeable look at the way you mount. They will provide the "because".

Improper cheek weld or you are hitting your face while mounting

        Dry practice at home
        Set up video camera

        Start with gun at hip
Mount gun and swing along a flight path

Review video of cheek against stock.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I agree with this. I had the same issue early on and was afraid to plant my cheek bone on the comb. Raising the comb with a little cast off using a foam comb riser gave me a more solid cheekweld.

Even if you have a good gun fit, if you lift your head at the last moment, your gun will smack you in the cheek. This is a common problem when shooters try to "see the clay break", and causes the shot to go high.

The gun should be pressed firmly into your cheek and shoulder, but not so tight that you can't relax and keep it in the correct position.

I see you are in Ventura County. Talk to Warren Fine at Oak Tree. He is usually teaching on Sat and Sun mornings on field 8.

Does your stock have a parallel comb, or does it have a lot of drop at the heel?

For me at least, more drop at heel = more cheek slap.

Get a good form cheek weld and even with poor fitting this shouldn't happen.

Incorrect pitch angle can cause this, even with a firm cheek weld.

You're holding OFF the stock, so the rebound - even if slight - is STILL catching you, and making it sore.

Shoot from your hip and your cheek won't be sore

Did you encounter Tyrone in prison?

My cheek usually gets sore when shooting doubles because I have the tendency to shift my head to see the next clay. Not only do you need a good cheek weld, but you need a consistent weld too.

No, haven't met Tyrone yet !

But your cheek weld - - - is that how tight your cheek is against the stock?
