    Interstate 982 AKA The Shadow

Everything on this gun is BLACK including:
    Barrel Chamber
    Bolt and carrier
Entire trigger group, inside and out including the safety spring retaining pin!
    Inside of receiver
    All screws and pins

After thoroughly disassembling the shotgun and cleaning (all new firearms need this) all the packing grease/cosmoline out of it, I am happy with the fit and finnish of this firearm.

The only thing I found that wasn't black, other than the orange polymer high visibility mag follower, were some welds on the forearm rails under the mag tube.

I thought it was rust at first, but it's not rust colored. The weld is Gold colored so I think the paint/parkerization has fallen off somehow. Is this something I should worry about? (see my really bad cellphone shots below)

I also saw that and thought it was rust on mine. Guess there is no need to be concerned now, thanks!

I concur, same on my hawk 982.
Oh and just to throw this in, it seems the ghost ring sights are set for 50 yards from the box cuz I was pretty much hittin bullseye from the first slug at Burro yesterday. First time I shot it as a matter of fact. I was about 3 times as far from bullseye with the 870 with the bead.

I hope rust won't develop on the brazing either.

I'm still trying to get that damn fore arm ring/nut off to make sure there is no rust under the fore arm tube. I've seen the wrench's for sale on Ebay, but I think I'm going to try to make my own tool.

The claw of a medium size hammer will fit the slots of the barrel nut. Put it in a bench vise under low pressure and padding.

With all the cosmoline to protect it from overseas travel I doubt it will have rust.

I too thought that it was rust at first so I kept that spot lubricated. Now I guess I dont need to worry.

Dust, dirt and cosmoline make a good polishing compound. My action is super slick
