However, do not add a folding/extending stock with the pistol grip.

Yes. Consider the Speedfeed brand which will come out looking something like this Remington 1100.

So can he add a Knox stock if he pins the adjusting capability at his desired length?

Theoretically, yes, but due to technical/mechanical design constraints, there is no Knoxx stock for a Remington 11-87. There's an "action spring tube" sticking out the back of the receiver which generally gets in the way.

I am about to list an 11-87 P and I have installed a Seed Feed IV-S. I thought that the pistol grip would make it an Assault weapon in your state. Is there a link on the DOJ site that would verify this as I don't want to refuse a Califorina buyer based on my ignorance.

shotguns can have pistol grips. Its just the combination of a semi-auto shotgun that has both a folding/collapsable stock AND a PG, thumbhole stock, or VFG.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock.
(B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

That both reference means that it needs a part A AND a part B to be considered an AW. If it only has a part A OR only has one or more part Bs, then it is not an AW.

Yes. I also third the Speedfeed stock as well. They will accept the R3 pads. I have the above depicted 1100 and I am pretty sure the 11-87 and 1100 share the same furniture.

Ironman if you are going to use it for 3 gun I would have screw in chokes installed. The cylinder bore is a bit too open for 3 gun in my book. IC or mod or at least the ability to change to fit the course of fire is a nice option.

I use a 21inch bbl with rifle sights and remchoke. depending on the course i usually run a improved cylinder or modified choke.
