    Winchester 1300 slide release

So this being my first Winchester 1300 shotgun, having two previous Mossberg 500s, the slide release in my opinion is harder to get activated. I am used to the big button on the Mossberg made it super simple to rack the slide and chamber a round, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a aftermarket upgrade for that piece that may stick out farther?

no sausage fingers here, i am 5'11 140lbs. I am thinner then sh*t. I just like to be able to rack the slide while the shotgun is on my shoulder, without having to move my hand to use my thumb, oh well I will just get used to it until I buy another Mossberg:

I put a Knoxx Specops on my 1300, and it's much harder to get at the slide release button now. You have to release the pistol grip and move your hand around to hit it.

The more I shoot my 1300, the less I like it, but several of the problems are related to the Specops...

I have the CompStock on my 1300, and accessing the slide release is no problem.

Of course, it doesn't have the tacticool look of the SpecOps ...

the only reason I want the spec ops is becaus eof the recoil reducing spring. My wife complains when we shoot slugs and 00 buck so I would like to get something that would tame it down just a little for her.

The Specops is great for recoil reduction - I love that part of it. I can shoot 50-75 rounds without any discomfort at all, and I'm usually recoil sensitive with a pump. It might even have less felt recoil than my 1100 semi, but I haven't compared them side by side.

It has several downsides, though, and I'm still waffling on whether I want to keep it or not.

                  - It doesn't point as well as the standard stock - this is the biggie for me. The stock is inline with the bore, like on an AR, and has much less drop - 1" at both the comb and the heel, compared to 1.5" at the comb and 2.5" at the heel on the standard stock. As a result, the barrel angles up, and I shoot pretty high at 10 yards when aligned with the bead.

An optic would fix this, but mine's not D&T for a mount. By the time I get my head down far enough for the barrel and bead to be aligned, I'm scrunched down, and the movement of the front part of the stock bashes my cheek.

                  - You can't reach the slide release button easily from the pistol grip, as mentioned.

                  - The trigger group doesn't drop out unless the Specops is removed; with the normal stock, it comes right out when the pins are removed. Removing the Specops is a pain in the butt, as it took some cranking to get it butted up against the receiver.

It's a shame, because I really like shooting it with the Specops. I just got some more slugs in and haven't tried them yet, but here's where it hits at 10 yards when I line up the bead on the X. It's dead on with the standard stock, or if I use the flashlight spot as an aiming point.

This is a bit of a show-stopper for me:

The CompStock does a great job of reducing recoil, so if you're OK with the "traditional" stock shape, that would be an option. You could probably sell the SpecOps for as much or more than a new CompStock.
