chokes - which one the best

I'm not familiar with shotgun chokes. I got the following with
my gun. Which one would you recommend for shooting trap?

    choke #1 - IC Lead/M-steel
    chock #2 - M-Lead/F-steel
    choke #3 - PB-F/SP - Lead shot only

    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I subscribe to the belief that you can use any choke you want as long as it's full.

But most people will say the M or Modified is the appropriate one for trap.

Modified. In your list that would be #2.

If you start shooting skeet, then #1 would be more appropriate.

Pattern your gun first and then decide. My original chokes which came with the gun, the IC gave tighter and more even pattern than the MOD. (Translation- should be the opposite way)

Unless you’re shooting a 410 or 28 gauge, which seems unlikely, modified.

                #2 for trap.

                    Why would you shoot trap?

While this is my opinion as well, some people just like it...Go figure...

OP, for 16 ~ 20yd lines a Mod pattern will work just fine. As you move back from there you will want tighter patterns, IE Improved Mod or Full.

For now, just stick the Mod in it and learn to shoot.

                            Steel shot or lead shot?

I think I have modified in most of my guns and don't really change them too often. Just remove to clean and twist them back in.

I use lead at the trap field but steel to hunt, same gun, one choke.

Assuming we're talking about singles and handicap, not doubles:

When I first started, I use the Modified choke for many years. You'll have no problem breaking targets even at 27 yards handicap distance.

Once you become experienced though, you might swap it out for a Full choke because it tickers you silly to see the entire clay target goes up in a puff of smoke with no small pieces anywhere when shooting singles.

After using the Modified choke for many years, when I ordered a custom made shotgun, I had a fixed Full choke on my single barrel (its a Combo configuration) and fixed Modified/Full on my double barrel.

If you're playing around with extremely light load, such as reloads and those mini-shells Federal sells, the full choke will probably work better. I had one friend at the range who bought a bunch of those and complained that he couldn't hit with them, he gave me 5 of those to try and I broke 4 targets out of 5, missed the 1st one because I was surprised by the lack of recoil but with a fixed full choke, they broke targets just fine at the 16 yard distance.
