Gov. Abbott signed into legislation to allow the Shockwave to be sold here back in 2017. It was the first thing I purchased since moving here, after firing both 12 and 20 gauge versions. I ended up with a 20g, loaded with #4 buck for part of my HD plan.

They are anything but impractical. You do need to practice and train with them. I went with the remington tac14 wood one myself, and changed out the trigger group with an 870 police trigger group.

I've been watching these since they came out and prices started dropping fast back around early October. With current prices below the $280 mark, I expect to get one maybe in April. While I prefer the Rem 870, the Shockwave reliably feeds mini-shells and I have been having lots of fun loading my own "short-shell" recipes. I also expect this to become my go-to shotgun for HD as the shorties maneuver so well in tight hallways. I never had plans to discuss any of this here due to the Shockwave being unavailable in CA - but the topic has been raised..

Mossberg also holds one more regular sized shell. Percentage-wise quite a bit because of the short tubes.
