A "friend of mine" happens to own a slightly modified Mossberg 500 security (7+1). Basically it has fore and aft pistol grips. He seems to think that because he added the pistol grips it's now illegal. I tried to explain that only counts towards semi-auto (auto loaders), but he won't listen. Can you guys verify that this shotgun pictured below is legal under California's laws.

standard 20" 500a barrel, so it's good length wise.

If it's a 7+1, as you stated, then it is the Mossberg 500 with a 20" barrel, so it's certainly not a SBS. Mossberg sells that model as the Cruiser with just a pistol grip (I have one), so adding a second pistol grip does not change it's legality. It's perfectly legal to add "evil" features to a pump action.

My mossberg is unmodified. This one belongs to a friend of a friends cousin's dog's owner. That sort of thing. Besides, the point of the post is obviously it's not illegal.

As long as Mossberg didn't use any pork or seafood products in the manufacture of the shotgun, you should be OK to eat it. I don't think it has rabbinical supervision, but steel, aluminum and plastic shouldn't violate your dietary restrictions.

Pistol grip is fine on a semi auto too... You just can not have any other evilness on it

A semi auto can have ONLY one:
pistol grip
colapsable stock
Folding stock
vertical foregrip

Just don't use more then one evil feature... That's why the M4 is a Cali No-No without pinning the stock
Just don't have a semi with detachable magazine, you'll have to use a mag lock. and be sure it meets the OAL of 26"

the only thing a pump cannot have is a revolving cylinder like the Street Sweeter or Striker shotguns
