Maverick 88 Forend

Hello,

I need your insight into forends for my Mav88.

I bought the gun this year and an ATI forend recently. When I went to install it I realized my mistake (which was clearly marked on the site I bought it at) that my forend doesn't come apart like a Mossberg 500, and therefore doesn't have the 6 3/4" tube needed. My forend is entirely integrated.

The issue is that I can't find an FDE forend for the Mav88 on the market. I can only find them in black.

My question is can I buy the forend off a Mossberg 500 and use it with the Mav88? Will it fit? And if it will, where can I find the part? I tried on eBay but I couldn't find one.

Or, does anyone know of a forend for a Mav88 that comes in FDE?

Yes. Just make sure it's for the right gauge. Any forend for a 500 will work for a maverick provided it's the same length as the action slide tube which is what you need to buy. The more common length is the 7 5/8 tube. It's an extra expense, but from that point you can choose anything that works for a 500.

Or, you could just buy a black Maverick 88 forend and paint it FDE.....

So I got the solution.

If you own a Maverick 88 with an integrated forend, and want to use an upgrade like ATI or Magpul, then you need to buy the 6-3/4" forend tube from Mossberg.

The fore end for the 88 in FDE is sprayed on,I know this as I bought one a few months ago,20 inch 7+1,started to wear just handling it.
Bought a old parts 500 gun for 70 bucks everything but the reciever.
Put the slide tube on with some old wood 500 stocks that I refinished in a red color,Sedona red mixed with formsby tung oil finish,makes for a totally different look,looks like a freight train,hence her nick name CHOO CHOO.

Some are crap some are pretty good mine was almost new and got a pistol grip and corn cobb in black,go on the mailing list for sale items thats how I got mine 50% off.
Now I have all the parts for another 500 just need a reciever anyone got one?
The mossberg 500 stocks are a LOT more solid than the 88.

I was going to change out my 88 Security forend, but spending another $150 on a $180 shotgun didn’t make sense - so I’ll just buy another shotgun!

Thats why I got the parts gun much cheaper and have all the stuff to build another 500.
So with the money I saved I bought a 1960s era Sears and Roebuck M200 12 gauge 28" in almost perfect shape with a blond walnut stock jeweled bolt,redid the stock in tung oil looks GREAT almost new all for 199.00.
for those that dont know it is a Winchester 1200 just with the Sears name on it.
Found a older H&R pardner pump with the rounded receiver not the humpback they have now for 125 gona go look at it tommorow.
And yes its a 870 clone.

So the ATI stock and forend are made with FDE colored plastic, definitely not painted. I did end up dropping about $250 in accessories including the forend, stock, 6-3/4" tube and nut, rail, and red dot. Getting a flashlight too much will bring it up closer to $300 in accessories. On a $200 gun. But it's exactly what I've wanted.
