    shotguns in Lytle Creek

Bought my son his first shotgun and he wants to go shooting at clays not really target shooting...can shotguns be used for that purpose at Lytle Creek. I usually shoot indoor ranges:confused with my handgun

Haven't been there in a while, but they did have range just for shotgun users. Right next to the rifle/handgun.
You will need your own thrower of some sort though.
If you are used to indoor ranges only, you will need to listen closely for the Rangemaster, when he calls cease fire, etc, that means shotgunners too. Talk to the rangemaster when you get there, for the basic rules if you are not familiar with the outdoor range stuff. They are good guys.
Have fun and bring plenty of clay birds!

Yes, Lytle creek has a separate range for just clay shooting. The shotgun range didn't have an RSO supervising when I was there, however it follows the same ceasefire rules as the rest of the range. No picking up clays from past the concrete and pick up your shotshells during ceasefire.

Do all the shotgun shooters have their own lane or area, or all just kind of spaced out next to each other?

Sorry, never been but it sounds good. Can you shoot slugs,00, or 000 there too?

There is a clay specific area, no target stands or what not down range. The clay area isn't divided into lanes as far as I can tell, but they do have benches for prep which act as space divisions.

They allow shotguns at the 100 yard rifle/pistol ranges along with whatever type of shot you have. It gets annoying when your target paper gets peppered by birdshot when the guy in the lane next to you decides to blast downrange randomly though.
