    Who's got a Beretta 1301?

Has anyone upgraded the follower? Wondering if the Nordic 12GA Low Drag will work and what else is available? Also, with the Nordic extension installed, is the barrel clamp necessary to protect the extension tube? I kind of don't want to add any weight up front if I don't have to.

    TIA

I have a 1301 comp 21". I've had no issues with the stock follower so I don't know if I would want to swap it out.

I have a Nordic extension with a Noveske barrel clamp for the Nordic extension. Its pretty light but considering you are going to be loading up the front of your shotgun with shells, I don't think any barrel clamp is really going to be making a difference in how much weight you are adding to the front end.

More specifically, I am talking about the Tactical. The extension is short, just not sure the clamp is necessary unless it's to protect the extension from being damaged when bumped and for keeping its alignment. Nordic sells the 1301 parts as a kit, instead of separate components, so you get the clamp whether you want it or not.

I have a 1301 comp with a 21 and 24 inch barrel. They are very versatile. I bought the 24 inch barrel on the Beretta Website when they had a big sale and I got it for 50% off retail. With a 24 inch barrel I have used it for skeet and sporting clays with a 2 inch extension choke. It never jams and is very soft shooting. The stock checkering is a little rough but I got used to it. I have used it with full power slugs, buckshot and bird shot and always works. I put a kick-off on it and it really helps with the recoil on slugs and buckshot. However not much of a difference on bird shot recoil. I like it better than my Benelli M4. The 1301 is a Great gun.

Great. Now read the post, not just the title.

You don’t really need the clamp, but if you are shooting three gun and throwing it in a barrel, you’ll wish you had it. Are you carrying this gun for miles? I can’t believe a few ounces will make a dfference, it certainly won’t slow you down.

Yes the low drag follower works, the extension clamp is not mandatory but probably a good idea, althought I didn't use mine cuz I like the way it looks without it. Mine is a house gun and range gun tho, if I was going to do 3 gun or a Tactical training class I'd probably put it on.

I have a 1301 tactical with the +2 nordic extension that i removed from a benelli. It has worked fine without a clamp for a few hundred shells,it's about a half inch longer than the barrel.
