Pistol grip shotguns

My shooting buddy always brings out his Benelli M2 when we shoot shotguns. I love how that thing shoots. I also like the pistol grip, easier to maneuver. I'm considering M4 for the next shotgun purchase.

i've always been partial to the mossberg 500/590 models for their utter reliability.

recently updated my old one to this one, already kitted out by Mossberg (Scorpion).

A pistol grip on a shotgun With the the shoulder stock is fine even if it looks a little Tactical.

But in my opinion a pistol grip without a shoulder stock on a shotgun it's not the way to go. It might be fine with the smaller gauges but my personal experience tells me it just doesn't work effectively with 12 gauge.

I have a SD pistol grip 12 guage which my wife loves because she can put the grip on her hip and go to town.

i really wanted the M4, but chose to go budget and spend the extra money on a scar 20s

I like my Mossberg 500 with the birdshead grip (Shockwave). The standard pistol grip is uncomfortable after long strings of fire. I've handled PG with a collapsible stock and very comfortable, just prefer a standard stock if I'm going full length.

I have one, the Mossberg 500 tactical persuader. I do enjoy shooting it and like the safety on the tang. It has the heat shield and parkerized finish. There are tons of accessories for it. I’m not into the finish, but it gets the job done for either recreational range shooting or HD.

i tried pistolgrips on my winchester it just locks my hand under the gun too much its hard to explain i shoot a shotgun different than an ar/ak

I have the 870 tactical pistol grip version without the shoulder stock. After few bangs on my first range trip.. it was enough for me to put on a magpul stock

I love my Hk Benelli M1 Super 90 Combat, but I'd love it just as much with a ComforTech stock (no PG).

Pistol grip shotguns without stocks can be fun if you're just shooting at stagnant paper or blasting Hollywood style / from the hip against things that aren't life and death involved.

May I suggest next time anyone goes shooting they throw or roll , two or more clays and using their pistol grip shotgun to see how your accuracy is on moving targets.
I think you'll find your accuracy suffers greatly compared to a shoulder stocked shotgun and even possibly compared to a semi-automatic pistol or revolver that has things like sights, no need for pumping action, etc.

And if you practice with your pistol gripped shotgun All day long, like we used to, you might even have a little bit of pain in your hand area. (It was never really bad and it always went away for me.)

Of course I'm going off my personal experience using the first generation of Mossberg designed Factory pistol grips.

I know they've come a long way since then, like the one pictured above, so the minor pain issue might no longer keep you from training all day but I do still think your accuracy, even remembering it's a shotgun with some spread, is going to suffer especially when engaging moving targets.

I am not a fan of pistol grips on my shotguns, I know they are popular but just not my thing!! still old school remi 870.
