    Benelli SuperNova locked up

Pretty new got it for a steal. Maybe 150 shells fired. Slide got locked back about 3/4 of the way.

Took it apart (very easy to do) and noticed a tiny fragment of curled up plastic fell out. After that everything works perfect.

The plastic bit looks like curled up sliver one would get scraping a knife edge over a junk of plastic. A bit concerned such a dainty bit of plastic could cause such a failure.

Somewhere there must be some moving metal that touched plastic but a close inspection didn't reveal anything obvious.

A good thorough cleaning and generous application of grease on the slide rails should keep things clear.

I wouldn’t grease slide rails. It will trap dirt and debris. Just work that action and it should smooth out just fine. A little light oil if needed.

No, it was black. Looks like a bit of material from the shotgun body (also black).

Does the forearm have any signs of the plastic being broken off? That's about the only place this might have happened.

If you see nothing, but had not broken down the gun after the purchase before shooting it, it might just be some junk that got stuck in the gun rattling around and finally got caught and jammed it.
