    What's wrong with the KSG?

So I've had my eye on the KSG lately and have been thinking about picking one up in the next few months, but I'm seeing a LOT of them come up for sale on the used market. It seems like a good little platform, so my question is, why? Does it have reliability issues? Accuracy? A beast to shoot? What's wrong with it that so many people are selling them off? Some people bought it.

Then realized that they do not like how much it weighs (loaded) or they do not like how much felt recoil it has or they do not grasp how to run it effectively or bought it thinking they could flip (sell) it for more than what they paid for it.

So, they sell it and/or replace it with something that's more traditional or are just trying to make money.

There are more Mossberg and Remington's up for sale than KSGs... What's wrong with them? Nothing. It's a buyer's market for scatter guns and bolt actions... Buy while the market is down!

I only sold mine after realizing I can reload and manipulate the Benelli a lot faster and more efficiently around the home, despite the differences in length. I liked it for what it was. I may end up buying another one in the future, especially when the aftermarket gets better (and less cheesy) for the KSG.

Nothing is wrong with the KSG, the novelty most likely wore off for most of those sellers.

It's the same as the novelty wearing off and finding you've got a plastic so called "shotgun". The KSG's presales testing also wore off prior to shipping guns to unsuspecting dealers and users.

They are up for sale because people found out they didn't really have a use for the gun.

They are cool guns if you are defending your home against a group of armed assailants you'd be well armed! Since that doesn't really happen and you aren't in the new John Wick Movie, you don't really have a use for shotgun that holds 15 or 25 rounds. Thus conventional guns come back into the picture as more practical.

I really like the KSG25, and I have shot one,,, However, I have absolutely no use for it. Thus I have not bought one and probably won't ever buy one. However if one came across me for $500, I might buy it. Mainly because I know I could sell it for more. However it would depend on the moment.

Something people should consider: I buy guns to use, and as investment. I don't buy guns to use that will be worth less after they are shot a few times.

Thus you need to look at the possibility of needing to resell the gun if you need to, or if it no longer interests you. Will you at least get your money back? Or will you lose money?

Pistols like Glocks,, any Glock, is probably the most Liquid asset you can own. Much better than buying precious metals or coins. You can buy lots of Glocks for $300-500. I can clean up a Glock in less than one hour, and parts are cheap. I have never seen a worn out Glock and they are very popular guns, because everybody knows about them. Thus they are easy to sell and $500-600+ is not an unfair asking price, since the resale market is big..

KSG,,, Neat gun, but not very popular, and thus not a very good investment in my opinion. Fun to shoot for a while, but after that wears off you want to cash in and buy something else. Except there are very few potential buyers.

That is why I won't be buying one unless it is practically given to me.

One point is to NEVER get yourself into a position where you "MUST HAVE SOMETHING" because you will get screwed one way or another every time.

I was taking a really hard look at the DP-12, when I had the opportunity to buy a KSG for half the price.
                No regrets buying the KSG.
It cycles Aguila minis as easily as 3" shells, making it one of the most ammo friendly shotguns out there.
As a slug thrower, it can pound your shoulder even with the minis, but at 25 yards, it will easily put all of them in the bullseye ring.
It's easy to handle, and fast to maneuver in tight quarters.

It would be really hard to beat if your primary goal is home defense.

I have a light mounted to mine with a pressure pad. Holosun behind the light. Its great, no malfunctions. I even had the bolt coated by Robar for easy cleaning and it fits in a dresser drawer.

I am considering one! I am assuming the 25 is not available in CA!

It’s the most awkward gun I’ve ever shouldered and seems painful to shoot.

nothing wrong... but its 100% novelty.
It a cool idea but thats about it, its bulky and awkward. There is no need and not many even want that much ammo in a shotgun.
