barrels-too good to be true?

Hey Guys:

I just put my money on a Remington 870 Express from Big 5 for 290 out the door, I tried it in store and it sure got a nice action.

I was digging through the archive in TFL and somebody mentioned that the Mossberg 500 18.5 inch barrel fits the 870, can someone confirm or dis-prove that? I Have a Mossberg and would be nice to use it on the 870 once in a while

Not a direct answer to your question, but I know Mossberg makes [aftermarket] barrels for the 870

The Mossberg 500 barrel will not fit... as mentioned above, Mossberg does make replacement barrels for several different models, the Remington 870 being one of them.

Is there a shop in the Bay Area that carries the barrel? On Brownells the replacement 18.5 inch barrels cost around 120 bucks, a lot of dough for a barrel(makes me glad I also have my Mossberg)
