100.00 more worth it for 870?

You are asking Rem 870 vs Moss 500....
If you are going to leave bone stock, the Moss 500 is GTG, if you are going to trick it out, the Rem 870 is a better and more solid platform, mainly the forearm on the Moss 500 sucks
Disclaimer: I own a Moss 500 and a Rem 870Comment

I'm going to say that I would rather skimp on a shotgun for doves and trap shooting, and put the serious money in a self defense gun, considering the cost of failure in any of those endeavors.
My take is an Ithaca M37. Just don't text message for a month, and put the money into something you will have for the rest of your life.Comment

all i'm going to do is put a night sight bead and hogue grips.Comment

In short hell yes its worth itI'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.
As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.Comment

Get the mossy and use the 100$ for your night sights and Hogue (full stock?) or do like I did and get a Lee Load All, lead melter and buckshot and slug mold, then you would be set for ammo."when I hear 'meat is murder' (sic) I think murder is delicious" - Stephen Colbert interview with Morrisey 09.10.12

You will find far more accessories and parts for the Rem 870 than the Mossy. The Rem receiver is steel vs. aluminum of the Mossy. That is a sticking point for some. Both are good and have advantages though. I plan on getting a Moss 590A to go with the 870 sometime in the future. just to throw a wrench in the mix here, What about spending the extra $100 on a mossberg 590A1 with heavy barrel and metal trigger guard, would that level the field or is the Remingtin still bettersigpic

The Mossberg meets mil-spec specifications, the only shotgun that does.
I have owned both over the years, used them in some interesting situations in the world of exec protection. Both hold up equally well. The Mossberg is llighter to tote (remember, you spend far more time "toting" than "shooting").
Mods? Choate magazine follower, stock with a shorter pull, Milt Sparks "Cold Comfort" cheekpiece.
The only complaint: that recent Mossberg guns have their magazine tubes on with some sort of crud that takes Herculean effort to get it removed the first time (didn't used to be this way).
Sounds like I like the Mossberg? I have two of them and the money saved has gone into needed mods."Sacramento" Bruce Conklin
