Bought a Big 5 shotgun today

There seem to be a lot of these Big 5 shotgun threads going these days, but I'm not asking a question, just sharing my purchasing experience.

I noticed in the paper that they put the Remington 870 Security back on sale today. I stopped by my local store before noon and bought the last one that they had in stock. Not sure if they had had a run on them that morning or anything, but I'm glad I got there when I did.

I hadn't purchased anything other than ammo at Big 5 since I had a less than pleasant experience with them back in the early '90s during a firearm purchase. This time, I was very happy to be served by a knowledgeable, friendly and professional gentleman who completed my transaction in short order. I might be a return customer (actually, they had a sweet looking coach gun that I may have to pick up )

While I was there, there were two other guys looking at firearms as well. I guess with most stores like Turner's sporting bare shelves these days, Big 5 has had to pick up the overflow when it comes to basic shotguns and rifles.

I bought my 870 HD shotgun from Big 5 in January, for $20 less than the current sale. Like you, that was my first firearms purchase there. I put a Knoxx Specops stock on it and plan on taking it out for the first time next weekend (once my ammo arrives).

Make sure it's the Interstate SBS coach gun, I saw them there when I bought my SG, they are really nice.

They may also sell the Century SBS SG, don't buy that one until you've held the Interstate SBS coach gun.

Good tip. I noticed that they had two different versions, one looked much nicer than the other, but I held neither.

I have purchased several guns at Big 5 since returning to Kalifornia. Much easier than dealing with the opinions expressed at my local gun shop.
