I still have a box that runs 3.51 server. FTP mainly. Don't really run it much anymore, but I still fire it up now and then.

the old polaris belts were bad, now theyre the most reliable SXS on the market. It's actually DCT (dual clutch technology) and has paddle shifters. No manual clutch. I can also put it into auto mode. Not like polaris or kawasaki which both have basically a belt. Polaris models are known to break belts frequently, but kawasaki has been a stable platform forever.
I was going back and forth between the Honda pioneer and the Kawasaki mule. Some guys from Bakersfield who I spent some time with in Las Vegas at DU told me they were all thrilled with the pioneer.
i looked at the pioneer as we have a honda dealer in roseville, too little torque and too much noise for me. i bought the ranger 1000 eps.
what killed the pioneer for me was how uncomfortable the back seat was and how much of a PITA it was to get to drop the seats.Comment

I was an MCSE, I built/managed networks for Mortgage brokers, Insurance brokers etc. While the money was ok, the work required stock in Advil...

You mean dropping them to utilize the bed? To me it's just the lever with the doors closed.the old polaris belts were bad, now theyre the most reliable SXS on the market.

I do have a hard time getting into both the front and rear seats, but that's because of me with the fake leg. But folding the back seats down takes me less than a minute.
The trick is keeping the doorsshutopen. They showed that to me at the dealership.
EDIT: The other way around with the doors. They have to be open. The other thing about the seats is they go down on their own once you release them with the lever and do an initial push. I don't know exactly how they are setup that way, but it seems like they are spring loaded to assist when you lift them up.Last edited by fecalguns; 05-12-2019, 7:52 PM.Comment

BTW the ranger is a great Side By Side. I just couldn't get away from the shaft drive of the pioneer, otherwise I may have gone that direction or the mule.the old polaris belts were bad, now theyre the most reliable SXS on the market.

glad it worked for you, those were deal breakers for me. the cool thing is that hopefully you got it for a smoking deal. honda offered a fully loaded 1000s for almost 8k less than the ranger i bought.I do have a hard time getting into both the front and rear seats, but that's because of me with the fake leg. But folding the back seats down takes me less than a minute.

the honda dealer here in placer county is right next to the can am dealer. can am's offering came in second in my comparison. the defender felt really good too, very powerful, torquey but didnt offer as many accessories for actual property work.
can am also didnt want to deal, the ranger i got was end of model year so polaris had a $2k deal off and threw in the roof, front windshield and rear glass. all in all around $4k in rebates and accessories. out the door my ranger was $24k.
btw, i would def recommend those two options for your honda, the roof will protect your melon and they front and rear glass will keep the cabin much cleaner than without. so much dust and dirt in the cabin without it.
also make sure you pop for a good wench. it will be a lifesaver if you get stuck somewhere and dont have a buddy with a powerful utv with you.Comment

yeah, the honda dealer tried to BS me too with belt vs shaft comparisons. the funny thing is the same local owner owned both the honda and can am dealer. the whole time the kid trying to sell the honda was talking about it i was thinking "i wonder what the owner would say to him".
i simply believe its to dissuade people from looking elsewhere and researching further. there is a reason why the two tops UTVs on the market run belts, not shafts. if you think about it, the logic is far more sound to run a belt when going over rocky terrain than a drive shaft that could be damaged/knocked out of its joint by rocks and other obstacles.
the mule is good but loud and underpowered. its reliable though, my neighbor has one.
in my research a really strong contender was the mahindra mpact with the kohler diesel. it had a great warranty, 3 years from the manufacturer. main issue was the dealer was pretty far from me, more than 50 miles. i was super close to buying this one though because of the crazy reliable kohler.Comment

I woke up Sunday dreaming about my first 25 straight, and was defeated by reality at the skeet field. If I caught you riding the Honda in my peripheral vision, I'd just walk away from Sansei to join you for sporting clays... My score was only 53... Very sad.Took her out today at Triple B's. I totally forgot about Sansei today and I would have shot it.
I didn't invite anyone simply because I didn't know if I could do the whole thing myself being with the peg and all.
So I made it door to course back to door at my house.
The pioneer worked well.
