    Browning question

    Hello
As always thanks in advance for all your help.

Have found a browning A5 and a Browning 2000? both in 12 gauge and in nice shape.

Question is, can newer barrel's be had and changed change on these to shoot steel

Sorry for my ignorance on this.

Browning barrels are almost impossible to find.

I shoot my Mossberg 500 fixed choke MOD barrel with anything even tho "it is not advised" to use with steel shot. No problem at all. and if, again big "IF" in 50 years the barrel gets damaged by the steel shot , then i'll look into buying a new one.
I'll cross the bridge when i get there.....

No damage to the gun itself by using steel shot with "no steel" barrel can be done.-, and a big doubt that it can be done to the barrel when using regular duck 2 3/4 and 3" ammo unless you load very hot loads.

Google Browning shotgun barrels. There are numerous companies that buy and sell barrels (including other makes and models). A few years ago I bought a modified shotgun barrel for my A5 (it had a full choke barrel) from a company called Corson's. They have an assortment of used barrels in different configurations that you can buy. Your likely to find a barrel this way as opposed to going to a gun show hoping that someone is selling a barrel that you want.

Briley can machine your barrel for screw in chokes. They have a line that will handle steel shot. I like the look of the extended chokes..

Briley is the BIGGEST and BEST shotgun choke tube manufacturer IN THE WORLD!

Belgian brownings risk buldging at the constrictions before the chokes if you use steel shot. Steel shot will not compress as easy. Japanese Brownings use better steel and are heavier and can hold up to steel shot. Japanese A5 barrels should fit a Belgian Browning A5 receiver. I don't know where the 2000 was built but in either instance the location of manufacture should be stamped on the barrels.
