Help setting up 1rst pump shotgun

I just picked up a Browning BPS yesterday. I got it from a consignment store for a great price but it was a never fired shotgun. It looks great and I'm going to be taking it out to the trap range on Monday but because it did come from a consignment store, it didn't come with any extra chokes or a choke wrench.

Any recommendations on where to get a set that won't be too much plus a wrench? I believe they are invector plus chokes but I guess I can't know for sure without pulling the one I have out.

And which choke would be good for shooting slugs?

    Thanks!

The local trap range might stock them. Mod, and skeet should cover most uses. Full if you start moving back. As far as a wrench use a quarter. Grease your chokes before you put them in.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Thanks Randy and Trapper for the help.

Does it matter that much about brand name for the choke? So modified, skeet, and full are the ones to get? And does anyone know which is used to shoot slugs?

          Thanks.

Check out briley chokes... Their website has a lot of great info and they make some of the best tubes around for just about every shotgun

If you want new, those are great suggestions.

If you don't mind used, and want to keep the costs down, keep an eye on the auction sites - gunbroker and such - and check the for-sale forum over at www.shotgunworld.com. You could ask on the Browning forum there as well - it's a great place for deals on shotgun gear.

Thanks for the tip on shotgun world but is it just me or is the site hard to log on to. I keep timing out when trying to load it.

The brand of choke is not that important, but make sure the choke is made for your particular model of gun.

I would start out with a modified choke for trap, but go with whatever you have right now, as the important thing is to get into the game. Once you start breaking more than you miss, you might want to switch to a full choke.

As for slugs, that is a trial and error sort of thing. Some companies make a special rifled choke tube that might work okay, but trial and error is the best method for determining what works best.

Looks like they're having problems. It's not loading for me either. Should be fixed soon - they've been around for years.

The front page also isn't very intuitive - it's best to bypass it and go straight to the forums at http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/index.php

They might cost a bit more but I'd get the chokes that you can change without a wrench plus it can make it easier to tell what choke is in your gun.

Good luck, enjoy your new shotgun and let us know how it works.
