    Mossberg 590a1 side saddle

Do any of you know which side saddles that hold 6 shells will not interfere with magpul forends

I saw the tacstar 6 shell aluminum saddle warns that one may have to modify the forend.

I have the ATI halo side saddle on my mossberg 590a1 with the magpul forend. It's allows you to mount ammo on either side.

I'm a fan of the tear off velcro cards. very easy to tear them off and stick a new one on, especially if your plate carrier has velcro.

I just have the cheap amazon/ebay ones. Haven't had an issue with the glue coming off, but I also haven't left them in the sun or heat yet.

I have a Mossberg 590A1 and just bought a $7 black elastic sleeve off Amazon that you pull over from the muzzle end and it fits my stock very tight-- doesn't slip at all- holds 6 shells and have not been any issues so far.

Velcro is THE only way to go. many reasons why.

First; when you go to a class and they tell you to unload, they actually mean get all the ammo out of and OFF the gun.

With A Velcro SS you simply rip it off and you're done.

Also if you don't want anything on the gun you simply leave it off and all that is left is some fuzzy stuff.

IF you clean the receiver with the alcohol wipe they give you the tape sticks very well and mine has been to 4 Front Sight Classes and looks just like new.

The best ones I have seen are made by "Browncoat Tactical." They are $15 each for 6 hole ones and they have 2,4,6,8 hole versions. They are VERY secure and in fact are too secure for some specific uses. There are also ones available from China that come in different colors an aren't quite as stiff. These are better for classes as the shells let go easier when you are under time pressure. $2-3 each,,, buy a bunch. They come in a week.

Proper gun setup is critical for good performance in either a Class where you are learning how to shoot or in a 3 Gun Competition where you are competing against others who already have their guns set up right. you don't want to be fighting the gun. A fixed side saddle gets in the way alot. The Velcro ones don't.

In a Combat situation I would go for the better quality ones that hold onto the shells tighter as you don't want your ammo falling off the gun while you are running and getting shot at.

These shell holders are super easy to install on your gun and Mossbergs are about as easy as it gets. Nice flat Receiver side. Make sure to clean the receiver well with Alcohol or Brake Cleaner and dry it and don't forget to poke holes for your trigger assembly pins. Pretty easy.

Here's some pics. and you'll note there are no extra hols drilled and tapped in the receiver to install the Velcro type Side Saddle.

Also if you decide you don't want anything on there at all you simply pull the tape off and clean off the glue with Alcohol or Brake Cleaner.

There is no permanent change to the gun. This is the simplest, easiest, cheapest, and IMHO best way of attaching extra rounds to your gun.

You might consider a Speed Feed stock as well.
It might not be the fastest for competition.
However, it carries four rounds very securely and can be used from both right and left shoulders, which the slip-on buttstock holders usually can't.

Esstac velcro shotgun cards work really well also. They come in 4, 6, or 7 round cards for around $15 each. They hold up really well.

Esstac Shotgun Card allows you to securely carry shotgun rounds in a compact, EFFICIENT manner.
