Watching Peterson’s Hunting Adventures on the Sportsman channel and they have $700 aimpoints about 1/2 way down their barrel on the vent rib for a pheasant hunt.

Thoughts?

My $.02 - may work for new shooters to keep their cheek on the stock and cross eye dominant shooters. Would also work for a point and shoot hunt (turkey, pigs, deer, etc).

But, wouldn’t this do the same thing?

Nope, it would not. This Hiviz is just brighter front sight when S1 and any red dot device for this mater shows actual POI no matter your mounting.
If you do not mount correctly, you will not see the red dot. The front bid, no matter how you mount the gun, you see it regardless.

Seems to work for them. It definitely has some advantages. Do one needs it? With proper technique, probably not, but in situations like you mentioned or for ones who hunts occasionally and do not have experience, is might be a big help.

From my prospective, i'd spend money on good fitted gun.
