    Wendell Cherry 'Behind the Break'

I came upon this and I am literally fascinated by this interview as it is almost exactly the same way my own life has been. That being said, I am not even close to the skills like Wendell Cherry regarding Sporting Clays. However I may spend the rest of my life trying to achieve it.

Great interview if you like Sporting Clays.

I prefer the modified Pete Rose approach: See the bird, shoot the bird.
      Keep it simple.

he's obviously an amazing shooter, but logically it doesn't make sense to me. his initial analogy was that of a person running and throwing a ball. if you stand and throw a ball it will be one speed. but you run and throw it, the ball will be much faster.

a very fast runner might hit 15-20 mph (olympic sprinters probably hit closer to 30). So in the context of throwing a baseball, 15-20 mph increase is quite a lot. think about the difference between say an 80mph fastball and a 95-100 mph fastball.

but in the context of shooting? he has moved the gun maybe 6 inches or less in that movement. It took what? half a second? a quarter second? let's be generous and say that it took a quarter second. 6 inch X 4 = 24 inches per second = 2 feet per second.

So if you are shooting standard 3dram 1 1/8 ammo at 1200 FPS, his motion added 2 FPS. Not enough to do anything in my opinion. In fact, I bet you that the ammo will vary MORE than the 2FPS from shell to shell.
