    semi-auto shotgun

    Te main purpose of this poll is NOT to find the most accurate or beautiful shotgun.
    It's about workability, over "infinite" time.

    So: based on personal experience, which one is the most durable and reliable with slugs?

                  My friend has always liked his Remington. Was passed down from his pops and it has been beat to hell. Thats my only contribution I guess.

                              I never shot the Saiga 12, but from what I read, it's pretty snazzy.

                              I shot Rem and Beretta semi-auto shottys and their owners either broke them or parts fell out after low round count.

                              I'd go with Saiga 12, then Benelli.

                                      Well, I have had 1 390, two 391's, and two Benelli's. I have more 1100's than I care to discuss. Key words here are "had" and "have". The 1100 has been around for 40 plus years. It is the only one to really have the test of time. But, I know that in Argentina they often use 391's and Benelli's. I found the cleaning and maintenance of the 391 to much. Although I never had any issues with the Black Eagles, I just did not like the recoil sensation.

                                      As I have said in other threads, I shoot 99% shotguns weekly. Lots of registered targets. The 1100 IMO is the most reliable and needs very little cleaning, if you are not so inclined. Always have spare o-rings (they make metal ones that never break now), clean the gas port on the barrel when cleaning the barrel. 1100's are not the prettiest, but they have real wood, and are all steel, and older ones a great blueing. The barrels on older models with fixed chokes are said to be best pattering barrels ever made. That matters is your competing.

                                      Just my opinion. But I am sure there are hardcore guys and gals that support another make and model.
