    Cleaning a 12 Gauge

I recently purchased a Beretta 391. I've been shooting clays so far. What cleaning solutions/solvents are recommended? Hoppes doesn't seem to work very well. I have other guns, and don't have this issue. Any recommendations are appreciated.
    Thanks!

I use homemade Ed's Red for most cleaning. What issue are you having?

Use a one piece wool coated rod for your barrel and if you have a wadding buildup issue have a gunsmith cut it out.

What kind of issue? If you are talking about wad buildup, get some Acetone from Home Depot, Lowes etc, put some in an old peanut butter jar or equivalent and soak your chokes. Then take a stainless steel brush and scrub the plastic off. The rest of the gun doesn't need anything different from any other firearm.

LOL I was thinking maybe he meant mix acetone with peanut butter so it would stick in the bore and stay put. Acetone ain't gonna stay put in a plastic container very long.

50-50 mix of Hoppe's #9 and Kroil. Works rather well. Been using that for years. May have to let it set for a while if really crudded up.

It's a smooth bored so I use brake cleaner on the gas port then hit it with a pipe cleaner and then clp on the internals. Just a wipe down. I'm not a pro so take my advice with a grain of salt but I've never had an issue. Thousands of rounds.

I have multiple shotguns with different gauges with thousands and thousands of rounds thru them over many many years, and not until recently have I heard of people having so many issues with cleaning shotguns and plastic wad residue. Really!! is it that difficult these day's? or have I been missing something all these year's? I just sit back and read this stuff and laugh!!

As shotgunning becomes more popular, there's going to be a certain percentage of new shooters that are anal retentive. Unfortunately most of them are members here

But yeah, with tens of thousands of rounds thru a dozen different shotguns, I wipe them down after I shoot them, but really only clean them once a year (if that).
