Does loading and unloading a pump damage the shell?

I keep my Mossy 590 loaded. But when I transport it to the range, I just rack the slide until it's empty.

Is it OK to reload those same rounds after doing this? How about twice or 3 times?

    Thanks.

My 590 can eat into the sides of shells. But I've loaded and unloaded the same 20 or so buckshot about 10-15 times so that can be expected.

Answer - yes. You won't be able to keep doing that to the same shells months on end.

Just shoot em when they get like that

I prefer to unload the magazine by turning the gun upside down and getting the shells out by pressing the shell latch and letting the magazine spring push the shell out. It's at least a little bit safer and you don't have to pick the shells up off the ground.

+1 on this. Knew someone who was unloading their shotgun by racking the slide and didn't even know about the shell latch on the bottom.

I wouldn't care for brands of ammo that suffer significant damage from being loaded/unloaded 4-5 times... No, they should take that much.

I have Federal Tactical 00 buck in my Mossberg... after being loaded/unloaded 20-25 times some "styrofoam" balls are leaking from the crimp.

I usually unload by racking the slide and dropping the live shell out of the ejection port before it chambers.
