rem 870 side saddle install - foreend incompatibility?

Didn't realize this till I put it on, but do I need to change my foreend up?

It doesn't seem to fit with the side saddle on, because it doesn't slide all the way back. Do I need to replace the fore end?

Second note, Im thinking about getting the sidesaddle + reciever mount for optics.


Will this fit. or either way I gotta change the fore end up?

You can trim the forend or replace it. Scope mount and side saddle together your bolts might be too short. You can try it though.

Any recomendations for a trimmed one? maybe with a flashlight? do surefire forends have a shorter foreend?

yes surefire will work. they are shorter

Just about any of the tacticool fore ends available on the market will fill the bill.

Surefire will definitely work... just be prepared to lighten you wallet. Surefire fore end SRP is more than I paid for my Mossberg 500.

i have a Mesa Tactical 8rd side saddle on my 870.
with a hacksaw, i was able to carefully cut the Excess fore end off my shotgun in under 5 minutes.

i am assuming you have the 18 or 20 inch, I have a TacStar on mine, and I got a router, and buzzed of the portion that gets in the way!

Pick up any 870 police foreend, they come in either walnut or plastic. Those would work along with the older corncob foreends found on old wingmasters.

yup. i used a hacksaw to shorten the foregrip so it would properly cycle rounds. it was about 2 and a half inches too long. sounds ghetto but it looked just fine.

I had the same situation with my side saddle. I bought the speed feed fore end from midwayusa.com works great and looks nice.

I fixed the 870 foreend for a friend on my mini-mill. Just milled away the exact portion that interfered with the shell carrier. It could just as easily be done with a drum sander, hacksaw, etc.

Just get one of these - found this one NIB off of eBay for waay less than retail. Just had to be patient; took about 3 months of watching, but eventually one popped up....
