1/6 will give me 0.3" as much as i can calculate. Am i right?
I thought i supposed to align the rib with the chest of the bad guy, don't i?

Big enough that everytime when the HD situation comes i miss by 1".
Maybe it is just because of the nerves, still did not get used to it, every time my hands are shaking. Now a little less tho...

This! Also, learn to shoot your shotgun like a shotgun. Unless you're shooting slugs at range, you shouldn't be aiming it like a rifle. Learn to point shoot and go shoot clays to practice.
IMO, at <50 yards, shotguns OWN carbines. Devastating firepower.

A laser on a shotgun serves no purpose other than to potentially give away your position to any potential bad guy IMO.

Not a laser, but I have my RMR sight zeroed at 40 yards, because I figure that's the furthest distance I'll ever shoot a turkey from. It's only about 1 or 1.5 inch over the bore, so anywhere from 0-60 yards, a slug is hitting within an inch of the dot.

Laser on a shotgun seems silly to me. A red-dot or reflex sight can give you the bright dot that you crave, without giving up your position. Also, they work in the daylight, unlike a laser. And the batteries last infinitely longer.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Buy some Federal LE132 00 buck. Go shoot it and see where your POI is and you're done. It's not complicated for a home defense shotgun. The Federal LE 132 00 will give you more distance if you need it.

Shotguns are not "zeroed" per se, you need to take the shotgun out to the range and see how it patterns on a cardboard target with the ammo that you will be using, that way you will be able to see how the ammo spreads and certain distances.

my HD barrel on Mos500 does not have ventrib, so, bending the barrel is the only option i guess. How do i know how much to bend?
Just to chime in, a 5" or 6" group out of a smoothbore shotgun with a slug is a perfectly acceptable group for hunting...you're not going to get 1" groups with a smoothbore barrel unless you're really lucky but 1" is actually extremely good, don't think you'll ever improve on that unless you get a dedicated slug gun and shoot really high quality ammo.

A slug gun should be shot like a rifle, if you don't have sights on the gun you're never going to shoot a good group--before you damage your gun, you might want to install proper rifle style sights and try again but please don't bend the barrel...please...

Smooth bore shotguns will shoot pretty close as long as they are setup right.

Here a 2 x 2.5" group shot at 50 yards with slugs,,, offhand.

Don't underestimate the 12 ga shotgun.

Pattern your gun. In the longest possible shot in my house my pellets are not expanding to Hollywood proportions.

Actually, I thought all you're supposed to do with a shotgun is rack it as the sound will be enough to scare away any bad guys...

Fine shotguns are "regulated". A master craftsman will do various things to get the pattern correct and regulated to the sights. Including, boring the barrel, moving the rib or replacing barrels. On a liquor store gun, just shot it the way it comes.

This thread is full of awesomness. OP take shotgun 1 & 2 at ITTS. Youll learn a ton about running and setting up the hardest system to master. Im taking SG 2 for the second time this feb since most of the class is at night. These classes got me hooked on the SG for HD and solidified that using birdshot for HD is the stupidest thing ever.

They are having a sale on all their classes as well. http://internationaltactical.com/schedule.html

Plus if you want to run a laser run a laser. Test it out, only you are going to know if it works for you.

Like many have posted, you might be missing the point about shotguns and home defense. Keep it simple - don’t be putting all that “tactifool” stuff on your gun.

At 3am when you half awake, in your Fruit of the Looms, and your wife is screaming there is someone in your home, you don’t want to be fidgeting with a lazer, hoping the batteries are still good and it is still zeroed.

Home defense shot guns should be kept as simple as possible. You should be able to operate it well under stress.
