    A400 Advice

I love my Franchi SL Instinct OU shotgun for clays and trap...fits me perfect.

The only other gun that fits as well is an A400...I rented one today at Coyote sporting clays...that gun is easy to shoot and was absolutely perfect for me...

My question to the crew here is...I have never owned a gas gun...has anyone had any trouble with them...are they reliable and what experience and advice would you give me about getting one.

If any of you have an A400...would you recommend it...

    Thanks...

The A400 is as ysr described, but it doesn't like "low pressure" (or whatever the term is) kind of shells.

I have one w/kickoff. Never a problem with any low "powered" shells. Use it mainly for skeet and trap. I think it is good for trap but I would prefer a longer barreled heavier gun. But that is just me. It goes bang and is capable of breaking clays or game. Just fine for skeet. It really is a field gun that is versatile. Only shoots 2 3/4 inch shells.

Yes it needs an occasional cleaning. Takes but a few minutes. Unscrew the forearm>pull the barrel off>pull the "plunger?" out>give it a quick clean>reassemble. The only problem I have had with it is with the lever used to pull the bolt back. 2x it fell off. Can't figure out how to make it permanent. It has stayed put for a few years so it is still good-to-go.

Doen't matter what brand/model shotgun it is: if you like the gun and it fits and you shoot it well then that is probably the gun you should buy. I have let dozens of people shoot my A400. 99% love it. I have no hesitation recommending it.

I have an A400 Xlpor Action 20ga and after a little bit of break in it's shoots everything. I haven't shot light target shells but the cheap Walmart packs are no problem for it.

A completely unnecessary recoil reducer. A400s are so soft shooting to begin with, you don't need it unless you're a Democrat or a trap shooter

Well, I'm neither and I picked up an A400 with the kickoff a month or so ago. The price was right and the owner said he had only put a box though it and it looked that way.

Thanks for the kickoff explanation...the rental I tried had that feature/ add on.

I like a bit of kick in my gun...but with that kickoff you could blast away for a couple hundred shells and not really suffer the consequences. I am good for 100 or so on my OU...and given that I am going on 60...I can see that feature in my future!
