pistolgrip with shoulder stock: more kick?

so i had an opportunity to shoot a shotgun for the first time, and it was plenty of fun putting lots of little holes into targets and close range. haven't been able to get outdoors and try my hand at shooting clay targets yet.

now i'm contemplating investing in a remington 870 in 12 guage. so i was wondering, does having a pistol grip with shoulder stock feel like it has more kick than that of a standard stock?

I find it to be less.

I installed a pistol grip and collapsible AR-4 style stock, along with a Giles sling and Trijicon reflex sight with flattop mount.

The kick was greater, and the ergonomics of keeping my finger on the safety while on the pistol grip was difficult. But the biggest problem was actually the change in weight balance. During tactical training, I found it very hard to keep the front of the weapon up, for instance, when I had to drop from standing to prone.

So despite the badass look of the setup, I went back to the stock buttstock. Balance and ergo are much better now. Miss that look though.. check it out:
