    Saiga-12 work in progress

Finally got this one. It came from a fellow Calgunner, via Henderson Defense and they added the maglock. I'm going to do the full conversion at some point, but for now, I just wanted enough 922r compliance parts and a comfortable gun to shoot. I couldn't find any fixed, non-conversion stocks (with pistol grip) so I grabbed this Tapco collapsible one and turned it into a fixed stock. I bolted it in two separate places and dumped a bunch of binary epoxy all over the bolts and into the seams of the stock. I'll probably also remove the adjuster button thingy as well, but this is definitely a permanent stock. I'll make it pretty somehow, probably paint over the bolts. Also, I did ALL of that before installing the pistol grip, so it was always legal! Front end is a DPH tri-rail and the brake is King Armory breacher/brake - I also installed the King Armory puck.

    Here are some pics!

    NICE!

I'm new to the whole thing, and my next purchase will hopefully be a S12 in a few months, but are shotguns the same as other long guns when it comes to accessories? I was under the impression that semi-automatic shotguns could not have a pistol grip *at all*.

I suppose that as long as it has a locking magazine, the same rules apply as a rifle?

Having the locked mag takes care of most of the rules, but the other big one you have to be aware of is the collapsible/folding stock - those are a no-no with a pistol grip, even if you have a maglock installed (unlike rifles where the maglock makes collapsible/folding stock okay as long as the OAL is 30")

Like I said, I couldn't find a fixed stock, so I made sure the "collapsible" one I added is no longer in any way collapsible (the two bolts and binary epoxy very much took care of that!)

Good luck on your S-12 hunt, they aren't easy to obtain, but not impossible!

That is pretty nice,, I love the tri rail, how much did you pay for the rail if you dont mind me asking.. I want the look of the Vltor/lmt sopmod stocks, so I think i will have to make one in a permanent configuration also... Nice shotgun man,, let us know how is shoots.. It would be pretty cool to have a Saiga 12 shoot,, with a load of guys testing and shooting there Saigas together..

Looking good man. I'm still waiting on mine to be built. I'm going to be running full conversion, ACE stock, promags and the chaos warthog brake

Thanks! The tri-rail is a DPH rail ($140) that I got from Carolina Shooters Supply (they are an excellent source for Saiga parts and ship super-fast!) - it went on really smoothly and is rock solid.

The stock is actually very comfortable, but it is only temporary. I'm going to do the full conversion some time this year, I just wanted to get this baby into the states and shoot it! (I miss my SPAS-12) I'll probably end up with a Tromix or ACE fixed stock when I do the full conversion.

I'll post again after I shoot it...

                thanks for the info, djleisure.

I'd love to see the look on people's faces when someone takes an S-12 skeet shooting.

Hah! Yeah, that might turn a few heads. It would actually be really funny to go out skeet shooting and intentionally miss the first nine rounds (at one clay) then nail it with the last one and act all triumphant. Woohoo! This is easy, I totally nailed that thing!! ...hmm, might just have to do that...

Yeah, the people at Prado gave me explicit orders when it came down to my S12 "Leave it at home"
