    Aguila minishell for defensive purposes

Turner's had some so I bought them on a lark. Mostly I use Remington 870's. Sometimes the new Mossberg magazine fed pump and sometimes a semi-auto. I was wondering, are these effective for defensive purposes or are they too light? The idea of using them as a "round multiplier" is attractive -- assuming the reliability issue can be put to rest. Unfortunately I'm an old guy who has had a number of physical issues lately that have resulted in surgery. My wife has me on "lock down" so I have not had an opportunity to play with the minishells. It has been more than a month since I have been to a gun store. Withdrawal has been an awful experience.

I have always wanted to try these, I finally found them in stock at an LGS and they were $19.99 for a 20 round box. Couldn't justify paying $1 a round for half sized shells.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

              Nevermind. Here:

Their minishell slug is a 7/8 oz @ 1250 fps. That's a big, soft 385-grain projectile at magnum pistol speeds. Be good for a shortened single-shot break-action truck gun.

Their minishell buckshot is 7-pellet load of #4 buck, their #1 buck is a 4-pellet load; both loads travelling 1200 fps.

I keep a mini slug as the last round in my HD shotgun, it adds that extra 6th round where it would normally hold 5 regular shells.

Yeah, realized that’s what I had - I think my first batch was Centurion, these are Herters (same thing, different box). Runs great in Maverick 88 and Stevens 350 and H&R Handi Rifle.

I have about 330 minishells left in both slug and buck.
They cycle well with the miniclip adapter in my Mossberg 590a, without the adapter you will run into issues.

The shells performance is good enough for practicing or teaching first timers or if you live in an apt where overpenetration may be an issue. However if you wish to be ready for anything, i'd look into and stick to 2 3/4 shells in reduced recoil loading.

i have a few boxed they are expensive and useless

i had fun fitting like 12 of them in my extended tube win1200 but other than just showing off they are not economical

I have a bunch of the Herters Defense (Cheddite Italy)... but have not tested the mini's in anything yet. The Aguilla will work in a Winchester 1300 or similar but not in my Mossbergs. Cool for manually loading in a auto like a Escort MP-A with mag cut or maybe ghost loading. Awesome for pumps that feed them flawlessly IMHO.
