    Mossberg 590 checking in

Hey guys, Didnt see much about the 590 models and happened to obtain mine from JW112 on this forum recently.

Here is the pic of the 590 on day one

After a couple weeks, and a few hours it transformed into this; Mesa tactical LEO stock, Mesa tactical shot carrier, VCS Mag extension, Or3Gun follower, Truglo front sight, Magpul forend and some dehorning of some edges

Cool beans. Now get out there and shoot the thing. Great shotguns, you'll enjoy it.

Have the same model, mine is all stock. My son and I put about 300 rounds thru it a few weeks ago up in OR shooting clay pigeons at a quarry near my dad's place. Most fun shooting I've had in a while. Can't wait to take it out again. Just getting broken in...

I keep going back and forth between the pictures......I really like the " stock " configuration. But that's just me. Congrats on an awesome shotgun!

I have one shotgun. 18.5 inch 590A1. Prefer it semi stock as I put a hogue LOP stock on it for my shorter arm reach. And a Limb Saver grind to fit recoil pad.

              Enjoy.

Were those snap caps included in the box?

Good job! But how do you operate the safety with the pistol grip? Kind of awkward?

Big fan of the Magpul Furniture. Both my 20" M500 Tac Gun and 18" M500 House Gun have them. Also Velcro Side Saddles as you can change them out quickly.

The gun will evolve the more you use it. I have a bunch of take off parts.

I highly recommend that you look into the Vang Comp process for the barrel. It is the best single thing you can do to that gun and well worth the money.

Everything we offer, from full tactical shotgun builds to our shotgun accessories, are made and inspected knowing that these may be used to protect life.

Then go to a Shotgun class and really learn how to run the thing. You'll be amazed what a shotgun can do.

Ahh nice, sounds like a fun beast and I was originally looking at the 590a1 but cost was a bit prohibitive for me. I did also fit the Limb Saver recoil pad on, made shooting VERY comfy. I also alternate between full power loads and reduced recoil loads from Fiocchi. What do you like shooting?

The snap caps were not included, I purchased them at Turners during the FFL transfer paperwork haha. (Had some time to kill)

Hey Randy! The safety operation actually isnt too bad for me, all i had to do is swing my thumb around which only takes a second and i can still maintain trigger control. Another thing people dont like when they do the pistol grip conversion is the "loss of control" over the action release tab. Shoten Armory actually makes a lengthened one to resolve that issue and its fairly inexpensive which was nice too.

Are you talking about the VCS Back boring?
As far as shotgun classes go, i've taken one tactical shooting class already and a basic HD course already. I really love the flexibility of this weapon and can't wait to see what else i can do with it

Kevin: the VCS system is lengthening the Forcing Cone, Back Boring the barrel and porting.

That Black Gun above beat the snot out of me during my First Shotgun Class at Front Sight.

I had the barrel done and the Second Class I didn't even have a mark on my shoulder.

Night and day difference with Strait Line Recoil and much smoother recoil Impulse.

The Gray Gun will get it soon as it is my HD Gun and I want both as close to one another as possible.

Here'a pic of 3 shots into the 3x4" head box at 50 yards with Federal Low Recoil Slugs. Offhand!

So far, I have only been using 2 3/4 inch old stock Remington 00 buck and rifled slugs I've had since the 1990s.. No malfunctions at all with a solid and strong positive extraction and ejection.

Did try a box of Estate 2 3/4 inch 00 buck I got on sale at Sportsmen's Warehouse locally..

Look at the advertised Velocity on the box. Anything below 1300 fps would be considered Low Recoil.

Butt Kicker Slugs and Buckshot are running more like 1600+ fps.

I have some Federal Power-Shok Maximum 2 3/4" 1 oz slugs with a MV of 1610 fps. These are serious bombs. They will go thru a car sideways easily

I have several boxes of these I bought on sale a Walmart about 15 years ago for $5 for a box of 10.

I have fired exactly two of these!

The first one knocked down the steel target with so much authority that it bruised my shoulder severely, the second one missed completely and dislocated my shoulder. Took 3 trips to my Chiro to put me back together!

Tears "squirted" out of my eyes, and I was done for the day.

I have shot alot of guns in my life and some were memorable. The only one worse than that shotgun with those slugs was a .300 Weatherby when I was 19 years old and weighed 140 lbs.

Tears squirted out of my eyes that day too! That gun hurt me!
