    Benelli Montefeltro Shotgun

Hello. My wife and I bought our first shotgun. Our local range has a new skeet and trap range and we want to take advantage of it.
I know a bit about ARs and handguns but this is my first shotgun. I plan on reading the manual for this firearm but was also looking for some new owner advice around maintenance, any prep for first time use, etc. TIA!

Ive had one since the 90's. its a great shotgun. I really dont have any advice other than a gun that beautiful deserves to be clean.

The manual will serve you well.

    Congratulations!

Just shoot it and have fun; it's got the Inertial drive system, torture tests fire 10,000 rounds through that system without cleaning (not that I recommend that!!). I have an Ethos, and an M2 (same design), and they are fantastic, I do tend to clean mine per owners manual instructions after 1000 rounds or so. Trigger will smooth up after a few thousand rounds, not that it matters that much on a shotgun.

Your biggest heartache will be taking out a second on your home to cover ammo cost. Enjoy your new shotgun.

Congrats. Simple maintenance. Just clean it, oil it, and shoot the heck out of it.

Thank you all! Sounds like we made a good choice. To be honest i did zero research and we relied on a really nice sales guy at our local Scheels. Sounds like he knew what he was talking about. Will provide some range feedback next week.

Pretty bulletproof shotguns. One of the few they use in the Argentine dove shoots which may see 2500 rounds per day. I've got the 20g model.

With stout loads, she'll buck a little, but with modest loads it's pretty comfy.

Remember, lighter (with no other changes) = more recoil.

As already said above: great shotgun.

One little quirk to watch out for is if you set the gun down a bit sharply on its butt while loaded, then it may come out of battery. It happened to me as I was sitting down waiting for dove the first season I had it. If you know about it, it's no big deal - you just either set it down gently to avoid the issue or hit the bolt handle forward sharply to put it back in battery.

My wife started with the same shotgun in trap. After a few local shoots, she wanted to move up to a 12 gauge, then she wanted to move to an over/under. Best of luck to your and your wife, hope you both enjoy it.
