    Choke tubes for 7.5" barrel

Hi scattergun wizards! I'm in the process of waiting for my AOW, and I sent a second 870 barrel out to have it cut down. I planned on having one cut without threads for choke tube, and one with. I The main reason for having it threaded was for a choke tube with breacher brake on it, but would it be wise to have both threaded for choke tubes?

Really a 7.5 inch 870? I just can't picture how that would work help a old guy out here pictures may be? I'd imagine the magazine tube has to be cut down somehow & how is the barrel secured and will the pump stroke be long enough to cycle it?

Hope this helps. The mag tube is cut down, the action bar is also modified.

Wow, a "Miami Vice" version. Nice.
Great question. I await the responses.

In the meantime, I don't see any reason not to thread the barrel. Worst case, you can always put in a "cylinder" choke into the barrel and call it good. The threading will give you more options. I would be very interested to see what the patterns look like with a full choke at 30 yards.

        Best regards,

If it was me I'd want to be more than 7.5 inches away from a breaching muzzle device...and no you don't need a screw in choke for that.

According to the experts, the pattern is 100% accomplished by the choke and has nothing to do with barrel length. Although I'm not sure if the "experts" ever cut a gun down to 7.5 inches.

If you cut down a standard 970 barrel to 7.5 inches won't the barrel inside dia be to large for stands off the shelf choke tubes? just looking it seems like the barrel tapers and at 7.5 inches sure looks much larger then what I'm used to seeing.

2+1,steel shot & a full choke show them duck hunters how it's done with a pair of holstered 12 gauges.

The point is to have fun, and have a 12 gauge that can pack around easily. My boat does float.
