What ever shotgun you have now that holds two shells will work fine. Getting out there and learning is more important then what you bring.
Call Triple B and find out if there are requirements for shotguns...you may have to do some mods to your gun if it is HD configured
Take a SoCal Skeet/Clays clinic
Contact Trapperjohn for info about the clinic or Triple b in general

CZ has some very nice o/u for well under a 1000.00, I have a canvasback and a redhead premier, my buddy has a redhead premier and an ultralight, points good, swings nice and fun to shoot!! just shot a 23 and a 25 at skeet on Sunday with the 20 gaugeComment

Careful with buckle wearers and ladder standerers. Lol
With that said most places dont allow barrels shorter than 26". I know Rahagues no longer allows them. Id say start with a mid grade auto loader that you can change chokes on.
I started with a auto loader smith and wesson 1000m. Low grade full choke shotgun. I was horrible but shot well once i got the hang of leading the target and stuff like that. Ive only been shooting sporting clays for a year actually. This past sunday was a year ago i started shooting sporting clays. Ive shot trap but find it less fulfilling.
I now shoot a Browning Citori that i bought last December and wont be going back to anything else."I could never let you go, my darling cold and blue
I wonder, are you dreaming still spread eagle, blood removed
I weave the sucking trocar beneath your bruising skin"

Stating your budget would go a long way when asking for a recommendation.
A Beretta A300 is a solid starter.Comment

OP. If you know for sure you want to start shooting skeet or trap, (which many don't) I would recommend an autoloader for starters. Here is a thread on it. The only change I would make is based on steel shot so don't get an old A5 Browning. Otherwise:

Only if the barrel is less than 26 inches, however I believe Triple B's allows 20 inch barrels for trap and skeet. Most other places require at least 26 inches. Chokes are widely available. Most newer barrels/shotguns come with at least one choke if it's designated as a field/clay gun. HD guns have cylinder bores which work fine for skeet and trap with beginners. The limitation for HD/security type guns are the length of the barrels.Originally posted by FjoldI've been married so long that I don't even look both ways when I cross the street.Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program.

If stock means hunting/sport configuration....you are good to go. Or, if stock means stock HD you may just need to swap out a few parts... you can be GTO for under 200 with a barrel and furniture from Ebay
For now don't worry about chokes, shoot whatever you have. You won't hit or miss any targets when you first start out because of chokesComment

I recommend buying a quality gun that you'll use and keep for years. Don't waste money on a cheap gun, you'll be using this gun for the rest of your life. The shotgun forums have many threads about what gun to pick. My personal choice for a do everything gun is a 12 gauge semi auto with 28 inch barrels.sigpicComment
