I initially came upon the Calguns forum when i did an internet search for "Trapshooting in San Diego".
I found out about the Miramar facility. It was glorious. This absolutely magnificent club with many olympic caliber ranges and reasonably priced. Closer to home was a nice little club called P2K where one could shoot Trap as well. A very friendly bunch, easy to talk with. It was very nice. Met one of my best friends there.
Unfortunately the Miramar facility was shut down by the military host, P2K changed from a small neighborhood club to a blossoming business. With the lack of local facilities, shooting 2 rounds of trap could take 1.5 hours to accommodate the volume of shooters for only 2 trap ranges. And perhaps most importantly prices per round shot up to $8,50 per round. Add to that a box of shells for say $6,50 and now a single round of Trap costs $15.
At least around here, gone are the days of shooting 4 or 5 rounds of Trap, smoking cigars and schmoozing with the guys and gals at the club without breaking the bank.Comment

I wouldn't own an A300 but to post on this forum it's all you need to know. Oops it needs a field stock for the sporting clays kiddies.Lynn Dragoman, Jr.

It is quite simple, shotguns are not the most popular firearms on a typical range. Most are geared towards pistols and rifles and even if shotguns are allowed, you are usually restricted to shooting slugs only.
Some ranges do allow ammo such as buckshots and birdshots, Los Altos tin can range would be one, but most will require you to use slugs because buckshots and bridshots destroy their target holders.
That leaves clay shooting ranges that offers sporting clay, trap, skeet and 5-stand etc. Those are fairly expensive sports to get into, and those shooters go to more specialized forums such as trapshooters.com.
Which leaves calguns.net shotgun forum in a limbo.Comment

Pick one or more of the following
a) Everyone's out enjoying the summer
b) For some reason there's been a lot of keyboard commandos bickering in this forum that only popcorn lovers can enjoy
c) Similar to some trap ranges, the old (no offense intended, I'm old too) grumpy guys drive everyone off so they can have the place to themselvesGod Bless America - My iTrader rating - https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...2-transactionsComment
