    Rem 870 12ga. Quit working

My Rem 870 12ga. quit working on me. It feels like the trigger/ firing pin something in that area feels broke....maybe a spring or something. The trigger almost feels like the safety is on but its not. Anyone ever had a problem that feels like this? I have to find a video on how to disassemble this thing and find out whats wrong. Any info would be great.

This video will show you how to check the safety. That is all you should do. Don't mess with disassembling the trigger plate assembly. If you believe the issue is there then take it to a gun smith.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

What happens when you push the safety lever side to side? Does it feel like it's engaging / disengaging?

Ok I fixed my Rem 870 today. Thanks for all the videos and tips. I took the trigger assembly out and everything looked good. So I pick up the rest of the 870 and to my surprise there was a primer stuck up by the bolt. The primer wasn`t even fired yet. My guess is that it got knocked out of the shell and got caught up in the trigger assembly. I never looked at the back of the shell when I ejected it....why would I. Anyway everything functions great. Thanks for the help.

That's one you don't see every day. What ammo were you using?

Federal bird shot. I`ve shot hundreds and hundreds of rounds of this stuff and never seen this before. Just happy it was an easy fix.

Nice job on the fix. That is a rare problem. I have had my 870 for over 24 years now. The only problem I ever had was a metal piece that broke in the trigger assy. $4 + shipping and about 2 weeks it was back up and running. That was 22 years ago...

I`ve had mine for 10 years and its always shot flawlessly. The primer was a weird find but bottom line is my 870 wasn`t broke and still shoots great.
