just a quick update. ended up dropping it off to berettas certified place in westminster
they told me its under warranty they will likely have to redo the finishComment

Looks like a chip. Why would they put a "finish" on the breech face?
I would definitely send it in for a look.

Well, this is the question in my mind. Why would there be a "coating" on the breech face?
BTW, a coating and a finish could be construed as the same thing. My Browning and Zoli have no applied finish in that area and look perfect after many, many thousands of rounds.
